Question Answered

It sounds like the lamp module is not an original Epson part. Is that correct? Asked by Alan M. On Jun 20, 2019

All the lamps we sell on MyProjectorLamps.com are OEM bulbs meaning they are manufactured by the OEM manufacturers PHILIPS, USHIO, and OSRAM. If you order the lamp in module, the bulb will be OEM in a MyProjectorLamps housing. This means that the bulb we send you will be an identical match to what you would purchase from Epson directly. You will get the same brightness and life from our lamps.

Question Answered

In this FAQ for the Epson HC 5050UB projector it states "The Lumen rating for this projector, the Epson Home Cinema Pro 4040 is 2300-2500 Lumens." How can this bulb be suitable for both a 5050UB with 2600 Lumens and the 4040/4050 2300-2400 Lumens? Asked by Brad M. On Jan 12, 2024

Projectors have internal ballasts (these are the electrical devices that control voltage to its components). Each projector will have it’s own unique ballast which gives the lamp a certain amount of voltage, which then results in the amount of brightness the lamp shines. Projectors themselves might boast a certain amount of Lumens, but that doesn’t mean that the bulb inside is 2600 lumens. This is because the lumens that a projector boasts is the result of a lamp being used in conjunction with all of the other devices inside the projector. A lamp is ignited, but then it shoots light through a series of lenses and mirrors and then through filters and the LCD panels to display an image on your screen. The ballast inside the projector controls the amount of voltage being sent to the bulb. Depending on the projector model, the voltage will be higher or lower (within a small variance) therefore the bulb will be brighter in some projectors. Also, the other components will allow for more or less light to be transmitted. This is why the same bulb can be used in a projector that boasts 2400 lumens, 2300 lumens and 2600 lumens and have different overall results. The bulb itself is being given different information from the ballasts inside each projector, but also the other components within each projector are causing the image to be brighter or less bright.

Question Answered

Can I replace the lamp while my projector is still mounted to the ceiling? Asked by Jon B. On Sep 17, 2024

Yes, if necessary you can replace the lamp while your projector is mounted to the ceiling, but you should take some precautionary steps first. First, let the projector cool down. Then turn off and unplug the projector. Lastly, stand on the side of the projector with the lamp as to avoid injury from glass fragments that may be loose inside from a possible exploded lamp. If the ceiling mount is too high from the floor, then it's too dangerous to attempt to reach. If it's easier to replace the lamp while the projector's off the ceiling, then unscrew the screws that attach the projector to the mount or remove the mount and the projector from the ceiling.
