Sanyo PLC-SU30 ..... Just Press Play!

One of the first mid-priced projectors to offer a truckload of lumens and therefore produce an image size for the indulging viewer was the Sanyo PLC-SU30. The PLC-SU30 came out in late 2001 and tried to push the limits of what a mid-range projector had to offer with a price tag of $3000 US.

The SU30 can project an image from 25inches up to 250inches and this is why the machine shines. Over 20 feet of screen in front of your eyes and the power to make sure that the image is actually bright enough! Powered by a 200W projector lamp, the SU30 deploys 1700 ANSI lumens and can outshine many of its contemporaries. If you want to use it for business presentations this would be ideal since you would take advantage of its big screen ability and you wouldn’t have to worry too much about contrast.

Speaking about contrast, the SU30 doesn’t really beat out competitors here since they simply offer a ratio of 350:1. If you are using it for business, and occasionally want to use it to watch a movie once in a while, why not? So long as you are not too picky about the black levels during movies like War Of The Worlds and can live with a few grey screens.

The SU30 was also designed with the geek in mind because back in 2001 when other projector companies were thinking about adding DVI inputs, the SU30 came fully equipped. In fact it is compatible all the way up to 1080i in HDTV format for all you TV lovers out there.

The SU30 is a native 4:3 projector giving you a resolution of 800x600p. It does deliver a great picture and the crispness is evident. Some may say that the sound is loud, but this is coming from people who are paid to listen for anything but the sound of the VD itself so I wouldn’t take their word for it. At 37db you still can’t really notice the machine.

It is an astounding 8 pounds, so taking it pretty much anywhere is like strapping your Bishon Froise to your back and going for a stroll. This is especially important for all of you who are on go. The Sanyo SU30 is a smart projector with ample brightness and the projector lamp for the PLC-SU30 is available from MyProjectorLamps.com by clicking here.
