The SixthSense
Projectors and their respective accessories are no longer the big box items that sit on a conference room desk or hang from your entertainment room ceiling. Innovators and technology specialists are finding new and creative ways to display images in social situations. Some of the newer projector equipment being released could easily pass as James Bond paraphernalia. Fun examples include, cell phones that project images, watches, hand held devices, and many more. Of all the press releases and magazines articles showcasing the best and the brightest, there is one invention that sticks out above all the rest. The TED talks, that boasts the slogan: ideas worth having, bring creative minds together to discuss and share new ideas to make the world a better place. Most of TEDs momentum comes from the popular YouTube videos (www.youtube.com) that are free for anyone to watch. Through these talks and viral videos, I found one that is simply sensational: SixthSense.
The SixthSense has taken the everyday projector and transformed its everyday use to out of this world capabilities. I strongly encourage you to watch the video has this new projector will open your mind to what is now possible in our world. Here is the link to the video: http://www.ted.com/talks/pattie_maes_demos_the_sixth_sense.html
Dial a phone number from the palm of your hand, take photos and display them on any surface, or read up on a companys environmental policy before making a purchase in the grocery store. These are just a few of the amazing interactions that the portable projector can do.
There is plenty of other projector savvy inventions that are hitting the market as I type this article. One example is the Rollerphone. This device is a bracelet that the user wears on their wrist and it projects the time directly onto the users skin.
Important to remember is where it all began: the LCD and DLP projector. If you are a current owner of a projector, or you are thinking of purchasing your first one, it is still a viable technology. Projectors are great for presentations and replacement projector lamps are an economical way of watching technology evolve from a safe distance, meaning, you can hold off on buying that Rollerphone until all the kinks have been worked out.
