Theatres to go the way of the DLP

Movie theatres may eventually start looking into purchasing DLP technology for their projectors in order to provide a better viewing experience for their customers, and people are already willing to pay top dollar for the added benefits. Currently the norm is the 35-millimeter film projector, and for nostalgia’s sake, some of these may kick around for quite some time. But for ease of use and by a greater demand by customers the DLP projector will probably takeover the market.

First of all, it has a much higher resolution, which is suited to movies that are filmed in digital formats like the latest Star Wars Trilogy. You will be able to notice in more detail the scars on Anakin Skywalker’s face, ha! you didn’t think he was that pretty on purpose did you? You will be getting a movie with better color saturation and a brighter picture. This new technology will employ the use of a hard-drive that is installed so that the feed is coming through a high bit stream, this in turn will give you the results you crave.

You can sit at home and watch your DVD’s all you want, but unless you are Michael Jackson and reside at the neverland ranch you probably don’t have the coin to develop a room large enough to compete with a commercial theatre. Plus, the hard-drive will deliver crispness far superior to DVD’s since it’s like feeding though your computer. This might take away from the skilled labor required to fit the reel-to-reel machine and make sure everything runs smoothly. Somebody might be looking for a job real soon, no pun intended, unless they tech-up and educate themselves in this new technology. It will be as simple as pushing a button and waiting for the movie to end without any kind of thermo-nuclear meltdown within the hard-drive itself.

Of course there are still some problems with the DLP projectors for the theatres and all of you who own a home DLP multimedia projector have encountered some of these problems. So the process will not be without some tweaking before many large chains go ahead and introduce this revolutionary new format.
