BENQ PB6240 Lite and Brite

If you are looking for a new projector that offers supreme brightness, look no further. The BenQ PB6240 is a relatively new projector that came out in 2005 and moderately priced at under $1500 US. Projectors within this price range typically don’t provide such high lumens, however the PB6240 is breaking all the rules.

The BenQ PB6240 offers 2700ANSI of breathtaking Lumens so it really doesn’t matter what time of day you decide to use your machine. Whether you are using it for the home or office, in a dark room or in a room full of ambient light, the PB6240 has plenty of power.

Now with this being said, the PB6240 isn’t the quietest machine on the block. When a projector can blast out the brightness it probably means that it has a high wattage lamp and a loud cooling system. The fan creates noise levels of up to 36db to compensate for the heat that the lamp creates.

The projector lamp inside the PB6240 is a monster 250W lamp that enables such bright pictures. When projector lamps burn at high temperatures you are most likely going to have to replace your lamp more often, especially if you use your projector for Television. The good thing is that with the Economy-Mode feature the PB6240 is able to save energy and lower the audible noise. The lamp also lasts for 2000 hours so don’t worry about replacing the lamp too often.

The resolution for the BenQ PB6240 is not out of this world sitting at 1024x768p with a compression of up to 1280x1024p, however it is good enough for most applications including HDTV. It has a throw distance range that allows you to move between 1.2 metres all the way up to 8.5 metres, giving you plenty of choice of where to place your projector.

Overall, the BenQ PB6240 is a pretty good machine that is extremely well rounded. The price keeps coming down and it is making the projector world slightly more affordable as days go by.
