Sanyo PLC-XP46, Whatta Lamp!

If there is one projector that has truly stood the test of time, the most likely candidate would probably be the Sanyo PLC-XP46. It was originally conceived and built for the release date of Spring 2002, yet has managed to keep sales and production afloat until the beginning of 2006.

Some of the reasons why it has had such a long production run are the options that it carried, and the power of its projector lamp. Back when HDTV was still in its infancy, Sanyo made sure that this still untapped market was about be blown wide open.

Looking at all the HDTV channels that are available from Bell-Xpress Vue in the United States (Over 25), this medium is taking over the television industry. Sanyo had anticipated and created a machine back in 2002 that had the ability to display up to 1080i and also have other high resolution options like a DVI-D input.

The main feature of the PLC-XP46 is its brightness. It can purge 4100 ANSI lumens out of its shell allowing for a super bright image even when there is ambient light present. This projector can thus project an image sitting as far as 14 yards away with a display of up to 28 feet across!

The 4100 ANSI lumens are powered by a 275 watt projector lamp. The lamp lasts for an average of 1500 hours. If you would like to purchase a lamp for your PLC-XP46 click here PLC-XP46

The PLC-XP46 has a resolution of 1024x768, however it can be compressed up to 1280x1024p with a contrast ratio of 800:1. Everything about the PLC-XP46 is good, and there isn’t much bad to say if anything. It remains quite quiet with a noise level of 37db, and a economy mode level of 35db, which is hardly noticeable.

The PLC-XP46 originally came out in 2002 with a price tag of almost $8000 US, however, you can probably snap one up for less than half that price these days if you do the proper research. It has many inputs preventing you from having to go out and buy adapter cables. Overall , quite a great machine!
