Sony VPL-PX11 w/ Super Shine Projector Lamp
There are few projectors out there that can truly boast a problem free experience. The Sony VPL-PX11 is one of them. It is a little on the expensive side, or used to be, but the money you put in definitely is going to be spent wisely.Sony introduced the VPL-PX11 back in 2002 and it had a marvelous two year production run. Consumers just couldn’t keep their projector loving hands off of them.
It was priced at approximately $4450 US and offered a powerfully bright image combined with superb resolution. If you could shell out the dough, you could put to use its 2000 ANSI in any way, shape, or form.
The brightness of the projector lamp allowed for a huge image, 21 feet to be exact. The 200W projector lamp inside the VPL-PX11 was amplified to allow a brighter image without compromising screen size.
The brightness of the projector can also be squeezed into a smaller image using the lens-zoom feature and you will not experience an over-saturated screen. As with most high-lumens projectors, the projector lamps does not last as long, and this particular one will last for 1500 hours.
The resolution on this machine is XGA rated, offering 1024x768p, with a native aspect ratio of 4:3. Whether you are playing XBOX, or watching a DVD, this projector delivers an ultra-crisp image that rivals all those in its class.
The VPL-PX11 provides all the inputs you need to plug in your computer, cable, and anything else except for DVI. It is whisper quiet with a noise level of 34db, but if you switch to economy-mode, expect a near silent viewing experience.
The most incredible feature about the VPL-PX11 is what I mentioned in the beginning, the quality of its instruments. I have not heard a single bad thing about the projector other than price, but even the price is coming down. Sony is known for putting together quality electronics and rolling them up into rugged and functional machines.
The company I work for has many projectors and there are not many that have lasted as long as the PX11. In my own home, I have the oldest Sony Wega television from 1999, and it has never needed repairs of any kind, knock on wood. I can say the same about the Sony VPL-PX11 projector.
